Day 1 (Lunch / Dinner)

Welcome to the Apple Isle!

This morning we start our day with a stroll around Cataract Gorge and then we hit the road to begin our exploration of the east coast. First stop is the pristine Bay of Fires which showcases some of Australia’s best beaches. Although you may find it hard to resist the crystal blue water, you may find it hard to stay in these chilly waters longer than five minutes! After a stroll or hike around the bay we stop by a local winery for a sample of some of Tasmania’s best wine.

We then head south towards the Bicheno blowhole. Formed by underwater sea caves, water is pushed rapidly through a small vertical shaft creating a forceful spray of water to shoot out the top – much like that of a whale’s blowhole. This evening you may be lucky enough to find the celebrities of the region. Little penguins returning from their day of fishing are often seen returning home, and our accommodation is right opposite the beach. Overnight Coles Bay.

● Wine Tasting

Day 2 - (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Today is the Tasmanian highlight for many guests as we explore the Freycinet (pronounced fray-se-nay) National Park. Made up of two eroded giant blocks of granite joined by a narrow sandy peninsula, the contrast of the rocky mountains against the white sand will cause your jaw to hit the ground in awe.

For those who want to take the day at an easier pace, the walk to Wineglass Bay Beach and look out is ideal. For a harder walk, your guide will take you on a 3-hour hike to Mt Amos for a spectacular view.

During your time in Freycinet you are likely to see one of our favourite Aussie icons, the echidna. While they are in no way related, many compare the echidna to a hedgehog or porcupine.

Your guide will do their best to drag you away from this beautiful location to head south to Port Arthur for our two-night stay at our own exclusive accommodation.

Day 3 (Breakfast / Dinner)

This morning we explore the Tasman Peninsula on a series of coastal walks where you will have the opportunity to spot dolphins, seals, penguins and whales from the dramatic sea cliffs. In the afternoon we step back in time to the early 1800s when the World Heritage Port Arthur Historic Site was a penal colony housing British convicts. We explore the rich history of this now-picturesque site learning the stories of the prisoners and the tasks they undertook. We dare you to stand inside the solitary confinement room with the door closed! If you fancy an even spookier side to the site then you can choose to return after dark for a bone-chilling ghost tour (optional). You may want to sleep with the light on…..

● Optional night Ghost tour

Day 4 – (Breakfast)

You may be familiar with Looney Tunes’ animated take on the Tassie Devil – a comically destructive creature who can spin like a tornado – well today is your chance to see just how accurate Warner Bros were as we visit Taranna Wildlife Park to meet the REAL Tassie Devil. Found only in the Apple Isle, these carnivorous creatures are threatened by a contagious face cancer which is rapidly spreading throughout the population on the island. Centres like Taranna are working to breed the unique species to save it from extinction. Here you will also get to witness magnificent birds of prey and hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies. For lunch we head to the beautiful town of Richmond.

In the afternoon we return to Hobart and venture to a brewery or a local historic pub to sample some of the state’s best ale and toast to a great trip.
